Cub Scout Academics and Sports Program (Belt Loops and Pins) The Cub Scout Academics and Sports program is a supplemental enrichment program that complements the existing Cub Scout program. The Academics subjects and Sports activities allow boys to learn new techniques, increase scholarship skills, develop sportsmanship, and have fun. Emphasis is on introducing a boy to a sport or academic subject, allowing him to participate in it and encouraging him to do his best. The Academics and Sports program focuses on learning and skill development-not winning. Boys participating in the program will be recognized for enjoying teamwork, developing physical fitness, and discovering and building new talents. The Academics and Sports program encourages a boy to do his best. |

Donor Awareness Patch For a number of years, BSA has offered to Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts the Donor Awareness Patch. While the BSA has reduced their emphasis on this program, it has not discontinued it completely. There are NO formal requirements for these patches, each Unit establishes the procedure for awarding the strip. Usually, a Donor Awareness Patch is awarded to a Cub Scout or Boy Scout the first time he is successful in getting an adult family member, friend, relative, or other acquaintance to agree to become an organ donor, and to fill out and carry an Organ Donor Card. Jamboree On The Trail (JOTT) Jamboree On The Trail is an annual day for the World Scout Movement to hike together. All Scouts, whatever their age and wherever they may be in the world, are invited to participate in whatever way they can. Cubs and younger Scouting sections could visit a local nature trail as part of a weekend camp. A Scout Troop might check out a hiking trail while working on badge requirements. A Rover Crew might make a Service Project out of restoring or maintaining a hiking trail. In their own way, everyone will be hiking the same direction: towards a better future through Scouting. Quality Unit Award Each year during your rechartering exercises, the BSA will ask your Cub Scout Pack leadership team to make some specific commitments regarding the quality of their Pack's program for the following charter year. These commitments are in ten (10) specific operational areas of Pack Program delivery. Then, during the rechartering exercises of following year you are asked to report on your performance against the commitments that were made the year previous. The Cub Scout Pack National Quality Unit Award is granted to Cub Scout Packs that achieve (a minimum) of six of those operational quality commitments out of the total of ten. Completion of four (4) specific committments are manditory, plus at least two (2) additional commitments. The emblem is worn on the right sleeve of the official uniform. The top of the award should be placed 4" below the top of the American flag. Only the Quality Unit Award for the current year may be worn on the uniform. Religious Awards To encourage members to grow stronger in their faith, religious groups have developed the following religious emblems programs. The Boy Scouts of America has approved of these programs and allows the emblems to be worn on the official uniform. The various religious groups administer the programs. Gettysburg Heritage Trails Program The York-Adams Area Council, the National Park Service, and the Gettysburg National Military Park/Eisenhower National Historic Site are proud to offer Scouting groups the opportunity to participate in the Gettysburg Heritage Trails program, which includes a stop at the Visitor Center/National Cemetery, two hiking trails through the battlefield at Gettysburg, a walking tour of historic downtown Gettysburg and a tour of the Eisenhower National Historic Site. The basic patch is awarded for completing the Visitor Center/National Cemetery section. The Billy Yank and Johnny Reb side segments are awarded for those two trail hikes and the Historic Gettysburg patch is awarded for the completion of the guided walk, and the Eisenhower star patch is awarded for a visit to Eisenhower National Historic Site and completion of that section. To receive the Trail Medal, Scouts must have completed the entire set of requirements for each patch segment. Click here for more information |

United States Heritage Award The United States Heritage Award was designed to give youth recognition for learning about the heritage of the United States of America, and showing patriotism. By earning this award, youth can cultivate an appreciation for the wonderful heritage of the United States of America. A silver medal and a patch can be awarded to all that successfully complete the award requirements. All requirements can be done with a class, unit, group, family, or individually.
